Surrounded by Idiots

Personality Colors

๐Ÿ––๐Ÿผ Richad Nieves-Becker remember when you asked “what color am I?”
I laughed and thought of fantasy novels and science fiction and “what color is aura”, but then this morning I saw this consulting service “Surrounded by Idiots”.

Personality typing has gotten traction in call centers, using NLP and sentiment analysis to match callers to helpers and improve customer satisfaction as well as shorten call length (decrease costs).

Years ago I read the 5 Languages of Love and found it was a useful framework to consider how to express love in ways that would be best received.

The thesis is that there are 5 main ways people give and receive affection (Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Acts of Service, Quality Time, and Physical Touch).

When we express love in ways that aren’t aligned with our loved ones it’s like speaking in a foreign language and the intended effect is dampened.

If you know someone doesnt benefit much from physical gifts, maybe spending more energy writing a thoughtful card for them?

On a scientific level, personality typing and building positive relationships is more nuanced than a “Does He Like You” quiz in 17 Magazine, but all models are wrong and some models are useful.

It’s interesting to think how concepts from Psychology will be applied as technology advances, but also how we can be our own experiential test labs as our thinking incorporates useful frameworks.
