I was traveling the past few weeks and thought of yet another example of how intuitive it is to use the metric system.  Its remarkable that we continue to resist it here in the US when it is whole-heartedly embraced throughout most of the rest of the world.  It seems absolutely arbitrary that water freezes at 32 F.

There was a unit in 6th grade at my school on Maya math – which works on base 20 instead of base 10.  I struggled mightily with it and found it general frustrating and confusing that you had to do addition before you could count – this is true of roman numerals to.  There’s a compelling reason
