Open AI – Leaving revenue on the table with this role

Deal Desk Manager has low salary for the area & not a strategic position

For a company raising $7 trillion dollars in a place a family needs $500k a year to afford a small 2br 1ba house, you’d think they’d pay more for a role which evaluated the revenue stream.

I asked ChatGPT (the LLM from Open AI) why an economic policy advisor would be paid nearly twice as much as the deal desk manager and got an interesting response, it can argue that either position should be paid more.

I’d argue that this role has really insufficient strategic focus and the skillset seems to rudimentary for the size of the task ahead of them. Open AI has been at the heights of the hype cycle for a year now and some day soon investors will expect an ROI. The pricing and revenue management team will be expected to monetize the huge innovations and product offerings and I don’t think this new hire will be positioned well to do that.
